Anyone who moves waste has to produce a signed waste transfer note on demand, and under the Waste Duty of Care both the business and its carrier share the legal responsibility. If you cannot produce a signed note when asked, the fine is unlimited, yet most notes are still scrawled on paper, photographed and lost. From April 2026, digital waste tracking becomes mandatory.
