How we build software
The fear with modern web work is that you get generic, AI-generated slop that looks like everyone else's. Here is how we make sure you don't: the standard every build meets, and exactly how we use AI, and how we don't.
What every build meets
Not aspirations: the bar we actually hold on every project, and the reason a serious buyer can tell our work from a template in about three seconds.
Hand-coded, never a template
Every site and platform is written by hand around your brand. We don't use page-builders or shared themes, so there is less to slow it down or break later.
99 to 100 on PageSpeed
We hold a near-perfect Google Lighthouse score on every build, and we publish the scores. Fast sites rank better and convert better.
WCAG 2.2 AA, held strictly
Real contrast maths, full keyboard operability, correct semantics and reduced-motion honoured: the legal and human bar, on every page.
UK and EU data, GDPR by design
Your data and the servers it lives on stay in the UK and EU, encrypted in transit and at rest, private by default rather than bolted on after.
Built to last five years
We choose the durable option over the trend, so the work still looks deliberate and runs cleanly long after the current fashion has moved on.
We run what we build
We operate our own SaaS platforms in production, so we build knowing we will be the ones supporting it at two in the morning.
AI is a tool. The judgement is ours
We use AI, and we will tell you plainly how. It is a power tool in an engineer's hands (like a compiler or a linter), and it speeds up the work that should be fast. What it never does is decide, or ship unread.
What AI does for us
- Scaffolding and boilerplate, the repetitive parts that should be fast
- Exploring several approaches quickly before we commit to one
- Catching bugs, edge cases and accessibility gaps in review
- Drafting first-pass copy we then rewrite in your voice
What stays human
- Every design decision, and the judgement of what to leave out
- Architecture, security and accessibility, the parts you can't unsee later
- Reading and understanding every line before it ships
- Being accountable when something breaks, with a real person who knows why
The generic, gradient-mesh, could-be-anyone site is what happens when AI output ships unreviewed. We design by hand and use AI underneath, so what you get is unmistakably yours, and someone here can explain every line of it.
This site is the argument
We would rather show than tell, so the strongest evidence is the thing you are reading.
This site is hand-coded, scores near-perfect on PageSpeed, meets WCAG 2.2 AA, ships almost no JavaScript, and explains how it was made. It is built the same way we would build yours. If a detail here is sloppy, it discredits the pitch, so none of them are.
Asked and answered
Does Whealbit use AI to build websites and software?
Yes, as a tool. Whealbit uses AI to move faster on the parts that should be fast (scaffolding, boilerplate, exploring options and reviewing for bugs), but a person designs the thing, reads every line, and owns the result. Nothing ships that we have not understood ourselves.
Will my website look AI-generated?
No. Whealbit designs around your brand by hand, and every line of AI-assisted code is read and reviewed by a person before it ships. The site you are reading is the proof.
Does Whealbit train AI models on my data or my project?
No. Whealbit does not sell your data or use it to train AI models, on your marketing site or on the platforms it runs. AI assists the team as a tool; your data stays yours, with UK and EU data residency.
Does using AI make it cheaper?
It makes some of the work faster, which shows up as speed rather than corner-cutting. What you pay for is judgement (knowing what to build, what to leave out, and how to keep it running), and that is still done by people.
What does Whealbit refuse to hand to AI?
Design decisions, architecture, accessibility, security, and anything a person will have to answer for later. AI drafts; people decide. If it breaks at two in the morning, someone at Whealbit understands why.
